Is there anybody else here that doesn't give a crap about interiors? As long as my butt doesn't hurt after a few hours of driving, I'm fine.

Plastic creaks and squeaks, which is why the only thing I hate about my interior is the cheesy plastic armrest covers. Other than that I could care less.

Comfort, ergonomics, and instrumentation are my primary concerns. I want to be able to see everything, use controls with ease, and stay comfortable for hours at a time. If an interior can do that, I'm happy. Oh, and if it's not garishly appointed, or hideously ugly.

I hate when an interior is criticized for having visible fasteners. I want visible fasteners. That means I know how to take it apart.

As long as the seats are comfortable and hold you reasonably well during some spirited driving maneuvers then I'm good. I mean, who actually looks at the interior while driving?

To me it's a matter of once you have it, it's hard to go back. My parents had nice cars when I was a kid, and as a result crappy interiors bother me.

It's like having a smartphone, then being forced to use a StarTac. They both make calls, but after having a smartphone it sucks to settle for a StarTac

My sister's escort has the most horrifying creak at the front center of the dashboard where it meets the windshield.

if u don't care about the interior... do you care about the exterior?

I'm meticulous with my interior. I try to keep it as nice looking as possible. That's probably because it looked nice when I got it, and I like how clean and neat it looks. On my last car, a '99 Subaru Outback, I loved how spartan it was. It had a weather-band setting for the radio. I loved my all weather mats, and how it felt like I could use and abuse it, and so I did.

My girlfriend on the other hand bought a 2004 Mustang with an interior that, had I been there, I would have told her to run away fast. The seats are gross, the accents were replaced with faux-carbon fiber that was coming apart. I do not understand how she could look at a car with that interior and think "I want to buy this." I assume a poor quality interior means it was a poorly cared for car.

And unfortunately, in my girlfriend's case, I believe I am correct.

Along with comfort I will add ergonomics and the absence of squeaks and rattles. My car sucks at all of this, by the way.

Yes, I do. Interiors for me are simply not held to a very high standard the way many others do.

i ask cuz you hold a higher importance of what others see you in vs what you see. ;)

best argument I've heard about interior design is that you, as the driver, spend 90% of your time using the interior vs actually being able to use the exterior.

I'm not holding a higher importance of what others see in me vs what I see, however I don't want to drive a car that I find aesthetically ugly on the exterior.

Depends on a lot of factors. I own a C6 Z06, and if I'm getting a new car with that kind of performance for that price, no, I don't care about the interior. But that's because I only drive it on weekends.

For the daily driver, yeah, I want leather so my sweat doesn't soak into the seats when its 100 degrees. And I want plenty of cupholders, and places to put my stuff, and nice speakers, and all that stuff.

But regardless of how nice or crappy the interior is, I'm always going to take good care of it. I'm not going to be that guy with coffee stains on the mats, stuffing coming out of the seats, and a Spiderman wheel cover hiding the cracks.

That must be what your e46 must be for I'm guessing!

Yes indeed. Got too spoiled with my old e39. As much as I love all my American cars, it's Bavarian DDs for me.

Well, to consider I DD a Seven, I'm with you on that. I want my next car to come from the factory in the white, with no interior.

However, I have no intentions on buying another new car any time soon, so I think a stripped 944 would be good. I have no use for interiors. The only reason I didn't completely strip the Mini I had, was because I had so much money in it. However, from the seats on back was stripped.
